Louis Bourgeois, Exhibition This comprehensive exhibition is the first major survey of American artist Louise Bourgeois’s (b. 1911, Paris, France) work in more than a decade. Bourgeois’s long and distinguished career reveals a vast oeuvre in dialogue with most of the major international avant-garde artistic movements of the 20th century—from surrealism to conceptual art—but always remaining distinctively separate, as an inventive frontrunner. Spark of Love Toy Drive, Volunteer Activity The Los Angeles Fire Department holiday toy program for needy children begins both collecting and accepting requests for toys on November 28. New toys left at any LA area fire station starting the day after Thanksgiving are distributed to children in need. Why not call in advance to see if it's a good time to take a tour of the station, letting kids get two great lessons in one outing? Fire workers not on call are always happy to let little ones sit on the truck and check out the gear. LA Fires Station #29, 4029 Wilshire Blvd., LA Phone: http://lafd.org/toyprog.htm Visit the Web site: http://lafd.org/toyprog.htm
